Frequently Asked Questions
I have no experience with circus. Do you take total beginners ?
Yes, definitely! Many of our students come with no prior experience in circus arts, dance, gymnastics, etc. If you’re a brand new student to aerial, you must first take a private aerial lesson before taking any group classes (special rates are available for brand new students!). The one-on-one instruction for your very first time in the air will have you feeling more comfortable, with less distractions and more time devoted for all your personal questions. You will have a more personalized approach and our professional instructor can see where you are starting from and can guide you on your next steps in your aerial journey. Beyond that, we have group classes available for beginner levels (or those seeking foundational instruction) .
What will I learn in a lesson or class?
Private lessons can be customized to fit your aerial needs, whether you're a beginner just wanting to learn from scratch, or an experienced aerialist needing help with an act, training regimen, or learning new sequences. Your instructor will develop a private lesson outline for you based off your goals (or if you are not sure what you want to do, they can still help guide you towards flying higher!) Group classes, regardless of level, have a warm up, conditioning exercises, learning technique and new aerial moves and sequences to music, and a "free dance" portion where you have the opportunity to try out anything you have learned in class.
Where are you located?
Our private outdoor training location is located in Burbank, CA (Los Angeles)!
What do I wear ?
Comfortable workout wear with no zippers, buttons, or things that can snag on the apparatuses or rip the fabric. Leggings and clothing that cover legs, back, and stomachs are highly encouraged to limit silk burns/scrapes and help with sensitive pressure points from fabric or other apparatuses.
What do I bring?
Please bring enough water for your lesson. Water bottles can be purchased for $1.00 if you need more. Shoes are not worn while on the apparatus. Many stay barefoot or you're welcome to bring firm grip socks or regular socks.
Do you take drop-ins?
We do not accept drop-ins, and all students must sign up to reserve their spot prior to class.
How old do I have to be to take a class?
You must be at least 7 years old.
Can I bring visitors? / Do I have to be present when my child takes a class ?
For general and Covid-19 safety, and to limit distractions during instruction, those who are not taking aerial lessons will not be permitted to stay. This includes children, parents, etc.-vaccinated or unvaccinated.
For parents/guardians: please drop off your student at the gate. When they are finished with their lesson, please wait at the gate and we can send them out to you. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.

What is your cancellation policy ?
We have an 12 hour cancellation/rescheduling policy. You can reschedule as long as it is done before the 12 hour limit and that the new date is on or before your particular lesson/class package deadline. Rescheduling or cancelling after the 12 hour limit will result in forfeiting that credit. For more detailed terms on policies, please refer to the agreement forms or feel free to contact us with questions!
Is aerial safe ?
VisionAIRy Aerial Arts prioritizes safety for all of its students. Lessons focus on safe technique and proper progression (we start students low from the ground before building upward), and utilize appropriate spotting techniques, safety mats, hardware, rigging, and apparatuses that meet industry standards for the aerial arts. When taking lessons, students are reminded to be respectful, attentive, and listening to instructions from the teacher in order to support a safe environment and limit the risk of injury.
With all that said, the circus/aerial arts are inherently dangerous and there is always risk involved when taking any aerial classes (also, scrapes, fabric burns, and bruises can be very common in aerial class!). As a reminder, do not do aerial off trees or try it by yourself or at home alone. It is very important to receive quality instruction from a professional aerial school or instructor that also has the appropriate equipment and rigging - so it is good for you to ask and do your homework! Our aerial rigs, hardware, and apparatuses (structures you hang from) at VisionAIRy are made and inspected by circus professionals/riggers that understand the force, static and dynamic loads, and weight requirements needed when it comes to the aerial arts. By taking a class and signing our waiver, all students agree that they have been cleared by their medical provider for aerial and understand the risks that come with participation in any aerial class.

I bought lessons prior to pandemic closure of classes in March 2020. Are any of my left-over credits still valid?
Lessons and packages purchased prior to closure in March 2020 and reopening of our classes in 2021 were given an extended deadline up through December 2021. They are no longer valid.
